Banned by the Australian Government, this campaign became Sportsbet’s most successful, with a 70% increase in Android app downloads. It also picked up a D&AD Graphite Pencil.
Every December, Aussies are force-fed cheesy American white Christmas movies; they sing carols about sleigh-bells and snow, and don Santa’s red jacket, white beard and big black boots, even though the mercury is sliding up to 40 degrees.
And if that’s not enough, people from the North who have settled in Australia, constantly whinge that Christmas Down Under doesn’t feel like ‘real’ Christmas. ALDI’s Christmas campaign features the Tinkletons – a family of super enthusiastic Americans who are convinced that their Christmas is better than ours. And they have come to Australia to prove it.
The S23’s ‘Nightography’ camera takes epic photos and videos even at night. But without the ability to put a new Galaxy S23 Ultra in everyone’s hand, our job was to make people reassess what a smartphone can capture after dark. We created special-build OOH posters which were flooded with light to create something as visually gob-smacking as the photos you’ll take on a S23. The posters also contained motion sensors that triggered a light show when people walk past. My partner and I were ACDs on this project at Iris.

This proactive social pandemic project rewarded frontline workers with front row seats to sporting events. The only country hosting live sports with crowds at the time was New Zealand, so we contacted every Super Rugby team in the competition. Engagement from followers was huge and the teams all got on board and gave away hundreds of seats.
To celebrate Sportsbet’s new ‘same game multi’ feature – that let’s you put a bet inside a bet inside a bet – we created a YouTube cooking series where we put snacks inside snacks inside snacks. Perfect for every hungry, red-blooded, sports-loving Aussie.
Starbucks #PSL
GenZ get all spicy for Starbucks Pumpkin Spiced Lattes every autumn, but we needed to communicate the different flavours of the expanded drinks to this audience.
The OOH and POS featured mini baristas making each drink in the range, to highlight the ingredients. To make use of GenZ’s honest and real UGC content about PSL drinks, we also developed a range of animated #PSL stickers inspired by flavour cues for PSL-lovers to use on their socials.
The mini baristas developed for this campaign were so well liked, they have become a regular feature in subsequent campaigns worldwide. My partner and I were ACDs on this project at Iris.
Rather than showing how Sportsbet's Bet Live feature works in this YouTube pre-roll, we decided to do the opposite. Bet Live with Sportsbet let's you get a fast, fingertip punt on without having to talk to an operator... if you can manage to open the app.
